Trophy classes

While our show is designed to be a fun time, we still like to hand some hardware out to deserving rides.  Once again, many local businesses have come through to support our event.  Our trophy plaques are sponsored by local stores and service companies. A representative from the business picks their favorite vehicle for the category they have chosen. Here are this years classes and the business with the daunting task of picking from all those cool rides!

See you there!

Come hungry, leave happy!

What goes great with hot cars??  Good eats!!  Traditional car show grub…burgers, fresh cut fries, pulled pork sandwiches, ice cream…we got it.  Craving something different?  Cheese steaks?  Yep.  Wraps and salads? You know it. Deep fried hot dogs or a Walking Taco? For sure!  Hand spun cotton candy? Absolutely. Don’t forget bake sales that benefit “Alyssa’s Bedtime Stories” and the “Four Diamonds Fund”.  There’s only one thing to say….YUM!

All makes, all models…and all ages too!

Although the main event is a car show, this year’s event will have multiple activities for the young….and young at heart. After you’ve checked out the beautiful classics, rumblin’ hot rods, outrageous imports and tricked out trucks, grab a bite to eat at one of several food vendors.  Release some stress by taking a swing at our Sledge Hammer Car, or just stroll through the student club section with games and information on up coming events and community awareness.  Because of our involvement with the Hempfield Schools, this event is very kid and family friendly!

A little more about STEP

The Safety Through Technology and Education Partnership was formed in early 2012 within the Hempfield School District.  The idea behind it stems from a strong relationship between the local police department, the school district, as well as the community.  The program’s primary goal in 2012 is the purchase of an “anonymous text message tip system”.  This system will enable students to provide information to school administatration and the school resource officer, without being identified.

Everyday the school gets valuable information of happenings within and outside the school.  While some students are more than happy to provide this info, others may be slightly more shy in doing so.  Fear of retaliation or just being called a “tattle-tale”, makes some students apprehensive about advising of possible problems that have occurred or may occur in the future.

This new system will allow those slightly apprehensive students, as well as all others, the opportunity to share information.  Something as simple as a possible “parking lot fight” at the end of the day or drug activity in the bathroom are examples.  Reports do not necessarily have to be criminal in nature though.  A friend that may be considering suicide or just having a tough time at home, could be reported through the system and get the person the help they need.

After the intial system purchase, there are many possibilities for the use of the funds.  Additional surveillance cameras, safety assemblies, as well as other programs to enhance the security at the schools.  While our school system is very safe, there is a need to keep improving and stay ahead with technology.  There is always the “what if” question, that needs to be answered.  Get ready to STEP up Hempfield!!

A little more than 2 months until show time!

We’re feelin’ the excitement, lots going on!

Hempfield Cops & Rodders Car Show will be held on May 20, 2012. If you are into cars, you need to be there! This is an “everything” kind of show…hot rods, muscle cars, imports, trucks, antiques and modern collectibles. And to represent the “cops” side, modern, in-service police vehicles as well as the retired, out-of-service patrol cars from the past.
